The daguerreotype is one of the earliest types of photograph in which the image is exposed directly onto a mirror-polished surface of silver bearing a coating of silver halide particles deposited by iodine vapor.

Early 1/6 plate Dag of a Native American. He is dressed in white mans clothes and is most likely from the Northeast. Also housed in a VVR leather case. THE DANCERS

1/6th plate of a very wealthy lady. She has a diamond bracelet on her wrist and a diamond broach. A sharp instrument was used to pick the area that would identified as a bright diamond. This is a very fine example of the work by Broadbent.

Joseph Andrews, a line engraver, based an unfinished picture on a daguerreotype taken in the summer of 1848. Taylor's horses and his Baton Rouge house are in the background. Because of the Mother of Pearl case that houses this daguerreotype, it was probably given to a family member. Beautiful lighting by a professional. Photographer unknown.
